Evil sister in league with trolls and threatening your home? It's just another day in the Enchanted Kingdom...
Kameo: Elements of Power is the new Action/Adventure game on the block, and it might well prove to be the Xbox 360's Crash Bandicoot.
The game is played as Kameo, who looks like a helpless little winged elf princess, but in fact can pack quite a punch. The game's hook is that Kameo can transform into three different monstrous forms in order to defeat her enemies (largely of the trollish variety, it would seem). Much of the challenge will apparently be in choosing the right form for the problem at hand - and when I say problem, I mean battle. Also, as an RPG-style twist, you will be able to find new forms to change into (there are ten in total), and upgrade the one's you have as the game goes on.
The gameplay looks to be standard 3D platform fare. However, controlling each form will be different. Nevertheless, this isn't the type of game to have a steep learning curve.
What else can you expect from Kameo? Very pretty graphics, if the screenshots are anything to go by (and I think they are). The game takes place in a colourful and vibrant fantasy world full of exciting (and beautifully rendered) creatures and landscapes. And, likely as not, you can expect wonderful music and sound effects, too. After all - this is the Xbox 360 we're talking about. It even has a two-player co-operative mode.
A launch title for the 360, Kameo is apparently already out. Good luck playing it without the console, though (which won't arrive until the 23rd). But stay tuned to NZGamer until then for updates on the Xbox 360, and everything else gaming-related.
