Well, I just got back from the last day of the inaugral 'G-Taranaki' music festival and I have an angry rant to... rant.
Don't get me wrong, overall the night was great! Vernon Reid was amazing - don't know who he is? Remember that crazy 'Cult of Personality' song in Guitar Hero III that had "FAIL N00B!" written all over them? ..Yeah, that guy.

Sure, we left midway during Joe Satriani's set, but that's only because we were tired. Not because me and the girlfriend are nanas (well... maybe.), but because we were sore and tired from standing for 5 hours straight. See, we got there at the start - because I was under the impression that there was going to be the finals of the Guitar Hero competition!
I came early specifically to be able to watch the comp. I had missed out on the comp at Video Games Live a while back, which was annoying because a) I had free tickets and would've actually went if I had known of the competition and b) would have won it. No, really - the lowest score I've ever gotten on the song 'You really Got me' happened to be higher than the highest winning score of that night. Grr.

But anyway, back to New Plymouth. So by now, you probably have figured out something happened with the comp right? Well, turns out it had been and gone. Suck right? Right. If I had known there was no competition, I would have gotten there at 7, and saved myself 2 hours of standing, and maybe been able to handle the rest of the night. (it's hard being a nana after all!). This I could handle. However...

Instead of judging Guitar Hero contestants because I was better than them (I'm no Geno, but still!), some 'Naki guy announces the next musician will be playing the "Fretless Harp Guitar". Ooo... Sounds interesting!
Well, turns out that Fretless Harp Guitars are played by hippies. And they're boring. And did I mention they're played by hippies?! I'm talking no shoes, talking about love and toilets, and yeah. Pretty much being everything I hate in a person. This guy was a real

It's kinda sad when the only person really into the performance is... the performer. Well, it isn't. Because I cannot feel bad for him as I believe he is my mortal enemy.
Half way during the show, the rain got so bad it was drowning out (no pun intended) his set. That's right - even God didn't like him.
I'm probably being pretty harsh on the guy (A.K.A. "My Mortal Enemy") but hell, I bet I wasn't the only one counting the number of songs in his set - and it wasn't even very long!
But yeah. It's bad enough I missed out on seeing something geek, and blogging about it. But to see THAT instead, and getting there early to see it, therefore leaving early before I got to see Satriani play 'Pride & Joy'?... well, here is a little something for those wounds of yours Foxy...
