Ratchet and Clank are back on the PlayStation format, except now you get to play as the metallic one, rather than the furry one. Secret Agent Clank centers around, for the first time in the franchise, the quirky little robot and his adventures.

Created by High Impact Games, the same developers of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, the premise behind the game sees Ratchet framed for a crime that he didn't commit. As luck would have it, the trial appears to be seriously skewed against the hero and he is soon thrown into a maximum security prison. Now it is up to Clank to single-handedly save his friend by collecting clues and evidence to prove his innocence.

For some reason, Clank decides to go about his business by first changing into a tuxedo. But all of Clank’s awesome gadgets are back and he has even acquired new abilities since his last appearance to help him on his quest. For example, Secret Agent Clank introduces the idea of Clank-Fu, which is the round-headed robot’s devastating style of martial arts. Clank still has an impressive arsenal of new weapons at his disposal too, including bow tie boomerangs, cuff link bombs, the intriguingly named Tanglevine Carnation and nifty jet boots. However, brute force isn’t always the best method and Clank will need to combine elements of stealth and espionage throughout the game in order to get the information he needs.

The game is set to feature thrilling vehicle missions including riding snowboards and driving sports cars and speed boats to chase bad guys or escape from the scene. And although most of the game focuses on the robot Swiss Army knife known as Clank, players will still get the chance to play as Ratchet and Captain Qwark intermittently as well. Secret Agent Clank is expected on NZ shelves on the 18th July and will be a PSP exclusive.
