Best of the Blogs #6!

Don't miss out on these blogs!

Welcome to the sixth installment of our Best of the Blogs feature, where we play catch-up on the best of the previous week's blogs. Lots of cool and entertaining blogs this week - check out the top three below and be sure to keep those quality blogs coming!

Blog #3: Far Cry 2 Map Editor by Genocide

Third this week is Genocide with a blog on the map editor for Far Cry 2, an upcoming FPS for the PC, PS3 and 360. Now, I played a bit of the first Far Cry (binoculars in multiplayer ruined my sniper rifle camping fun) and I’ve seen some demo videos for Far Cry 2 but they weren’t really all that exciting. That changed pretty quickly after watching the map maker demo embedded in Genocide’s post, I’m now rather excited about the possible implications of making a dense jungle map filled with lions and set to midnight.

Check out what some commenters had to say below.

”The map editor is the main reason I'm getting FC2, too. The one on the XBox1 version of Far Cry was just incredible - so powerful, versatile, and intuitive.” by Mongrel_Rob

”that sounds mean as. Why haven't I heard that this game is coming out? When does it release?” by xSHADOWx

Blog #2: My Perfect FPS by stupidlikeafox

Second this week is blogging veteran stupidlikeafox with a small list of gripes and features he would like to see in his perfect FPS. Sprinkled with his typical sense of humour, this is (compared with his previous blogs) a slightly more serious post with some solid ideas and features for a great FPS like hostile leopard AI and lazy terrorists.

Check out some of the discussion on the nuances of shooters below.

” I agree on all of these. Oh and lazer trips mines, every game needs those. trip mines + Destrucable enviroments = Hell Yes.” by Syn-Ryn

” I loved perfect dark multiplayer those poison knifes and tranq gun were mean” from itachi27

” You can do what you mentioned in Crysis I think. I know you can mow down tree and use them as weapons.” from howzit

Blog #1: Greatest games that sold sweet FA by ChaOtiX

Top spot this week goes to Chaotix with a blog on some of the forgotten gems of years past, such as Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Shenmue and Beyond Good and Evil. Titles that were praised by the games media for their creativity and originality but were never picked up by the mainstream (or in Shenmue’s case just didn’t sell enough to cover the mammoth production costs) for whatever reason. A good list and an ever better read, check this one out, you may just discover an awesome game that you’ve never heard of.

Check out some of the comments below.

”Nice list. It reminds me, I should look for my copy of Grim Fandango, I have no idea where it's got to.” from Phoenix

” Psychonauts FTW!” from howzit

That brings us to a close for this week’s Best of the Blogs. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on this weeks entries feel free to let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for next week’s blog re-cap.

It's not racist because I was referring to myself as a ninja. It's ok for ninjas to say ninja. Look next my comment there is a picture of a ninja. Now click the ninja to discover a real ninja.
