Haze is Free Radical’s first original game since the Time Splitters series on the last-gen systems. Ubisoft are publishing this time around, and with the respective companies' backgrounds in the action genre, we can expect Haze to be one to look out for in the coming months.
Based 25 years into a future where the governments have privatized the army, Haze will put in you the boots of a newly enlisted soldier in the Mantel Corporation’s army named Jake Carpenter. You will get to drive a variety of hi-tech vehicles, wield futuristic guns, and use performance enhancing bio-medical support. Haze will be based in South America, where you will be sent to fight a rebel faction, who have nothing better to do with their time than blow up buildings and people.
There will be a number of online options to choose from in all versions, including co-op and death match . Free Radical are fine tuning the modes to play the best they can on each format. Unfortunately, it is unknown how lag free we will be.
Free Radical can push hardware with the detailed levels of Time Splitters 2 and TS Future Perfect - they even looked great on the PS2. Haze has a lot riding on its visuals as Gears of War has set the benchmark quite high. With Halo 3 and Resistance: Fall of Man coming out this year, among other hotly anticipated 360 and PS3 titles, Haze will almost need to be a classic to stand out, or it will be just another FPS.
