Best of the Blogs #11

Don't miss out on these blogs!

Welcome to the eleventh instalment of our Best of the Blogs feature, where we play catch-up on the best of the previous week's blogs. Some quality blogs this week, covering a broad spectrum of topics, keep it up. Check out the top three below and be sure to keep the blogs coming!

Blog #3: ADDICTION by Bigbcbob

Third spot this week is Bigbcbob who tackles his struggle with a Hexic addiction. As someone that’s had that hexagonal monkey on my back, I can say it takes a lot of courage to own up to a Hexic addiction and I commend Bigbcbob for doing so.

Good blog, my advice to you would be to hang in there. The urge to rotate clusters of hexagons never really goes away but, with time, it gets easier to deal with.

Check out some of the comments below

”Start playing a square related game and wean yourself off the habit. Or perhaps re-tile your bathroom floor with squares.

It's hip to be a square.”
from Oliver

”this is terrible lol, SELL IT!
y u ask?
well it'l stop u from playing it.
then u shud find a new game or a hobbie to take ur mind off it.. go for a walk or sumthin lol
its always the lamest games that are most addictive sadly..”
from Lisa3x3x3

Blog #2: The last good offline multiplayer shooter game? by arnies

Second up is arnies with a blog that harks back to the good ol’ days of split screen multiplayer with a discussion on offline multiplayer shooters. Arnies uses Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun as an example of what an offline FPS should aspire to be and covers some of the elements that made split screen multiplayer fun.

This was an interesting read and sparked a ton of discussion, check out an example of the comments below.

” I think a little gem called Mashed is the best 'mates around a tv' game. It's like micromachines, but funner-rer-er.” from Wozza

” I remember the Ballpark level! I played this game co-op.. im not sure i ever actually played any true multiplayer though..” by Koopa18

” The original Perfect Dark and Golden Eye for N64, and PS2 had the Timesplitters series. Xbox had the Halo's and Unreal Championship. These are the most memorable to me. Apart from the Quake games. Oh sweet Jesus yes.” from SmurfWorks

Blog #1: O, Retro 2: The Awakening by Dogonabus

Returning to take the spot this week is Dogonabus with a follow-up to his previous blog on the N64’s glory days. This blog picks up where the last one left off – Trademe auctions. Only this time we have results, Dogonabus was able to obtain a copy of Turok 2 and as such it’s the focus of this blog. This is a well-written, funny and informative read, I’d definitely recommend you check this out.

Here’s a sample of the comments.

”lol its blogs like these that make me want to break out my old sega mega drive and go hard on sonic xD” by iRonic

”bewareoblivionisathand.

Still remember it lol. Very cool game. Awesome weapons and overall very fun to play through. Primagen took me a while to beat though sad.gif.

Scorpion Launcher FTW.”
from Chris Redfield

That brings us to a close for this week’s Best of the Blogs. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on this week’s entries feel free to let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for next week’s blog re-cap.

It wasn’t so much a decision to play it safe as it was keeping the feature presentable. When I wrote it up and decided on the top three, Donutta’s latest blog (I’m assuming you meant that one) had about ~23 comments that were, for the most part, pretty volatile so I decided against including it. Since then, however, there has been some decent discussion in the comments but it’s still not a very... reader friendly, I guess, blog.

Having said that though, I would recommend people take a look at it (not saying I necessarily agree with what Donutta wrote) and think about some of the points he raised.

You could have just put a disclaimer then you won't be viable for poisoning children's minds with those hateful comments

Rok, i i ever have a dance party YOUR NOT INVITED!
..........

Im sorry, im just pissed i didn't get free demon.
Let everyone on this website know that I, ChatterboxZombie suffer from Cyber-Schitzophrenia. That's right I have two online personalities. Theres Chatterbox And theres Zombie.

Chatterbox is always friendly, crazy and happy to see you, but he never shuts up. Zombie is a pesimistic cyber-jerk who's mean to everyone, voices his opinion and attempts to make everyone else as depressed as he is. So yeah, now you all know.

Ih, and congrats to arnies, seeing as how you're blog was the only one last week to get 4 stars.
