LEGO Batman: The Videogame

AT A GLANCE

"Not quite so serious…"
The Good: Justice. Honour. A sexy black cape.

The Bad: There’s still a fair wait to go before the release date. We want it now!

The Ugly: Memories of a hideous Danny DeVito Penguin.

The Caped Crusader is almost here! Sadly, I’m not talking about Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney or even a bulked-up Christian Bale. The iconic superhero Batman is returning to our screens - but less as a dark knight and more as a small breakable toy often swallowed by improperly supervised children under the age of three.

With The Dark Knight being released in cinemas barely more than a month earlier, Bat Fever will predictably be at an all time high when LEGO Batman: The Videogame is released. Fans of the big black bat (and who isn’t?) still tingling from the thrills in the movie theater will soon after be able to rush home and experience their very own adventures in Gotham City. While there is a fairly decent Batman Begins game still floating around, the creative minds at TT Games will undoubtedly have put their own humorous spin on the new escapades of a tiny LEGO Batman and friends.

“We’re sure our fans will be excited to know that we have the same fantastic team at Traveller’s Tales responsible for LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Star Wars II working on LEGO Batman,” said Tom Stone, Director of TT Games Publishing.

Set entirely in a virtual LEGO world, The LEGO Batman story unfolds with Batman’s greatest foes escaping from Arkham Asylum and creating mayhem throughout Gotham City. Tracking criminals, including The Joker and The Penguin, fans will be able to utilize Batman’s gadgets as well as build and operate fantastic vehicles in one or two player cooperative gameplay.

LEGO Batman: The Videogame is expected in New Zealand stores at the end of August 2008, for all of the major platforms. Until then, dig out your old LEGO box, tie a sheet around your neck and get building. Gotham City won’t save itself.
