RE4, DK:King of Swing, Project Rub... What a great time to be a Nintendo gamer!

Things in little old NZ are heating up on the Nintendo front as of late. The Nintendo DS launched extremely well, so it looks like Mario and the gang are on the comeback trail. NZGamer thought we'd take a look at what Nintendo is releasing in NZ over the next month or so.

Here are 7 great reasons to jump on the Nintendo bandwagon...

Resident Evil 4



The government has destroyed the Umbrella Corporation, which has been behind just about every plot and disgusting bio-chemical mutation in the survival horror series. Now-US agent Leon Kennedy of Resident Evil 2 fame has been dispatched to Europe to save the President's daughter from "crazed organisations."

Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords

The Legend continues on Nintendo GameCube in an all-new epic adventure for one to four players. Fusing cooperative and competitive action, Four Swords Adventures features a unique gameplay system that incorporates both the television and the Game Boy Advance.

  • Long ago, a valiant hero defeated an evil wind demon known as Vaati and imprisoned him with a magical seal. Over the ages, the seal weakened. Now, Vaati has escaped and abducted Princess Zelda and the six Shrine Maidens. To thwart Vaati's vile forces, legendary hero Link turns to the mystical power of the Four Sword to split himself into four coloured copies of himself.
  • The four Links embark on a quest to collect Force Gems and save Princess Zelda. Their journey will take them through enemy-infested lands and puzzle-plagued dungeons. When you enter a building or dive into a cave, your character switches from the TV to the Game Boy Advance.
  • Up to 4 players can link their GBA?s to the Nintendo GameCube


Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat

Donkey Kong is back and exclusively on GameCube! This highly anticipated platform adventure game with the use of the DK Bongos controller sets up a wild ride through lush jungle environments. With the use of these bongos the game is lifted to a level unmatched by other platform games.


  • Players clap and beat on the DK Bongos to guide Donkey Kong through the dangers of the deep jungle, encountering enormous beast, riding on parrots, collecting bananas or taking part in boxing matches, it is all part of the exciting 3D jungle life.
  • Other game levels are set in areas such as under water, ice slopes, ruins, volcanic caves and outer space.

  • Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is the second game released by Nintendo that uses the DK Bongos.


Project Rub

The game puts the unique hardware of the Nintendo DS to great use, taking full advantage of both screens and the voice recognition system. Throughout gameplay, players switch among the stylus, their voice, and even their breath to control the main character.


  • To win the affection of the girl, our hero must impress her by performing a series of stunts. Of course, he needs your help! Our hero is faced with some of the quirkiest challenges around.

  • When 100 bulls rush toward the girl, you must tap every one to make sure they fall out of the way. You will guide him as he tries to ride a unicycle across a catwalk, you'll blow into the built-in microphone to blow out candles before they start a fire.

  • Surreal, humour-driven story line with a romance twist

Donkey Kong: King Of Swing



Donkey Kong and his friends must swing their way through the jungle to get the medallion back and along the way, rescue Diddy, Dixie, and Funky Kong from King K. Rool's minions.
