Rant About Teachers And Schools

Published: Tue 26 Aug, 2008 | 27 Comments
Tags: school, teachers, video games, skateboarding, smoking

Here in this blog I am going to talk about three topics which I reckon can be good arguments about.

Today i will focus on three things:

                          - Smoking In Schools.

                          - Skateboards At School

                          - VideoGames In Schools

First of I will start with.

1. Smoking In Schools

First off i will start by asking isn't it illegal to smoke in schools?

I thought so yet people still do it?

WTF is up with that people do it and teachers see them yet do shit all about it?

I reckon it should be taken onto the police if people are caught dont you?

Now I dont know about your school but there are heaps of people who do it and teachers walk right pass them yet theres this one teacher (Name Disguised) who I won't name that went out and had a joint with one of the year nine students (first form to some of the older peeps here) isn't that just stupid cause shouldn't he be telling him off and carrying it on to the police instead of sitting down and joining him?

Some people would think that's a teacher being cool but it is just down right stupid cause that I would say it irresponsible.

Now a situation that i have seen is me and some of my mates were setting off fart bombs down corriders which was immature pretty funny and we got pulled up for it and just around the corner are people breaking the law and killing themselves i mean fart bombs dont do that?

well not as far as i know but yet they still don't get in trouble?

Teachers are pulling up people for fart bombs and water bombs which don't harm people one bit do they?

Now i conclude this topic with an educational picture.

Now onto our second topic SkateBoards In School.

2. SkateBoards In Schools.

Now there will be many or just about all of us who have tried skate boarding and have failed miserably and have moved on to Tony Hawks which is as good as the real thing im sure or Skate. Yet there are a few of us who can skate and would like to show it off to our friends and other people so we go to school which is where you would see most of your friends.

Teachers on the other hand don't really like skateboards (the reason im sure is cause they cant do it) and like to take them off you there reason "because they damage the propery" which I think is complete shit because what is a skateboard going to do against concrete?

Concrete could totally munch you up and a skateboard would do shit all to it not like your gonna be skating on the windows and breaking them is it?

Why dont schools have a selected area to skate?

You could have fun doing something you love and hanging out with people that like doing it aswell?

Now i will end this topic with another educational picture.

Now for my next topic is about video games in schools.

3. Video Games In Schools

Most of us  All of us have played video games just about every single day we have had spare and would like to have it in our schools wouldnt we?

Now if you asked a teacher what they think about video games they would probably say that they are pointless, useless and a complete waste of time but in my opinion they are very helpful and have taught me quite a bit like how to spell and historical references and other stuff like that.

Also you could use video games in math's class like playing NBA Live you could find out the average of your score which would make me want to do math's cause I could get a real good score and if they tell you to stop playing use the good o'l "oh yea just gotta save and quit" which usually ends up being half an hour later.

I mean there would be hardly anyone complaining having video games in school would there?

But there are downsides to it they are:

  - People stealing the games

  - Mistreating the hardware

  - And other things which i cant be assed writing.

Also just found this article

(Click Me Above)

So now I leave you with another education picture:

Next week will possibly be talking about why its bad to pop a ballon in a mall and also why you should never have lynx in one hand and a lighter in another.

Stayed Tuned.

Peace Out.

"Why dont schools have a selected area to skate?"

Our school does the two large courts are able to be skated on, oh and the driveway.

agree with one. two i can understand why not-if some dumb kid cracks their head open the school gets in hot water coz the dumb kid cracked his own head open.

three is a bit of a grey area. you'd want educational games, but you wouldn't replace actual work for a game. spend half an hour to obtain a single value for statistics? thats a wasted half an hour. why not pull actual statistics from nba games of the previous season instead?

Educational games were sometimes quite fun. I remember number munchers and Where in the world is Carmen San Diego being quite cool. Also other games on the school MAC's such as Bolo and Spectre Challenge were fun.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to smoke in schools since it's a work place. When I go past schools at lunchtime I see the teachers standing outside the school grounds smoking.

When I went to school there was an indoor skatepark down the road called Ally Oop. That was pretty cool. But skating on school grounds can be pretty dangerous when there are lots of other students walking around.

P.S. Year 9 is 3rd form.

Hmmmm, are you sure the teacher smoking in teacher in No. 1 isn't just a rumour? Sounds like one. And it's not the concrete. People ollying (or how ever you spell it :p) on seats can scratch the paint, badly done (flips?) could launch off and break a window or dent a wall and yeah, people could hurt themselves, and parents do like to blame the schools, even if they had nothing to do with it :p

I can confirm it is indeed fact. He was caught in one of the book rooms when I was attending Kaiapoi High. He now takes his habit to the top of the motorway overpass at lunch times.....

Kinda agree with 1. The smart kids usually go off-grounds to have a smoke. If they're lucky they have a mate who lives next to the school. In my day, it was too much hassle to get caught smoking at school.
And really, what can the teachers do these days? They've more or less been nerfed, and can't even touch kids these days.
Though I do have a teacher friend who has some interesting ways of "punishing" students...
2 - While you're at school (or in school uniform), the school has a basic responsibility to ensure your safety. Also, those trucks on your skate board can do a fair bit of damage to concrete.
Usually, schools don't have a specified skating area for a number of reasons:
Budget
Property constraints
Potential damage to property
Potential damage to other people
OSH requirements
3 - Unless it's educational, there's not any point to having games in school. Unless it's a military school. Then you could use FPSs to teach teamwork and tactics :)

Sure it isn't?

xSHADOWxReplyPosted by xSHADOWx on 29 August 2008, 05:32PM
yeh i agree with one and 2 aswell. I don't see why safety should be an issue because it's your choice and you do it outside of school why should it matter where you do it as to whos fault it is. its not like its more dangerous at school. If if you dislocate 3 fingers, sprain an ankle and break your neck its your own f@#king fault, its not like the school put its foot out and tripped your board up and smashed your face into a wall. Unless it did...?
