Think you're a Pokémon master? Prove it at this years Armageddon expo.

You know you want to catch ‘em all – and what better way to do it than in a tournament where everyone can see how good you are? If you have a Gameboy and the appropriate Pokemon game, then make sure you head down to Armageddon in Wellington this weekend for the Gameboy Pokemon Competition, where you can face off all the other Pokemon masters in the region. Here are all the details:

Sunday April 30
Entry Fee: $5

Format: Elimination (One loss = eliminated)

Timetable (subject to change):
9.00am - 10.00am : Registration
10.00am - 1.00pm : 14 and under
1.30pm - 4.30pm : 15 and older
5.00pm - 6.00pm : "Best of the Best"

14 and under "Best of the Best" - Pokemon GBA game
15 and over "Best of the Best" - Pokemon GBA game

"Grand Champion" (winner of a playoff between the 2 above mentioned winners) - Nintendo DS

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
Best of the Best (Winner of the 2 above divisions playoff against each other)

15 and Above

The "Best of the Best" matches will be played on a full-screen TV using a Nintendo Gamecube, and the game "Pokemon XD: Gales of Darkness", so that all spectators can watch the 2 winners battle it out!

Additional Conditions of Entry:

Players will be assigned a number when they register, and be paired up against an opponent shortly after for their first match.

Competitors will be battling with 4 pokemon, and playing under the rules found here

Players WILL be permitted to use Nintendo DS's as well as Gameboy advances this year, but it is the PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that if they are using a Nintendo DS, that the game they will be competing on is DS wireless compatible.

Players will be required to bring their own link cables, but we will have a few spares in case any of the cables used happen to fail/break (please do not turn up without a cable and expect to use one of the spares.)

In between tournament matches, players are permitted to freely trade and have friendly matches, as long as they do not interfere with the games in progress. (It is recommended you bring a pair of headphones if you are going to have your sound on)

Spectators, if they have their own Gameboy units, will also be permitted to trade, but will be asked to leave if they are found to be interfering with games in progress or attempting to compete without having registered.

The organisers, management, employees (and their immediate families) of Armageddon expo, Nintendo, Monaco Corporation, their related companies, agencies, and suppliers are ineligible to compete.
