Wazup wazzup? Have you checked out my last blog on pets? Now I must warn you this blog may contain spoilers, but not really.
Back in the day before all those internet gaming websites, downloading demos, betas, and youtube trailers I used to buy my video games based on two things. The box art, and the blurb on the back of the box. Other than what I saw on the box I knew nothing about the game, but it was enough to make me want to buy the game.
Nowadays developers are in competition with each other putting out as much info about their games as they can trying to create the most hype and get you super excited about their game. There is nothing wrong with that. But sometimes I think they go too far and give away what I like to call "gameplay spoilers". Giving out the details about all the cool stuff you can do in the game. I think this kills my gaming experience once I finally get to play the game.
For example Halo 3. Bungie had their weekly updates releasing all kinds of information about the weapons, enemies, and vehicles. This trailer pretty much shows you the entire first half of the game.
It got me all excited about the game. Thinking "ZOMG look at all the cool dude stuff! That's awesome I can't wait to play it". But then when I got to play the game, and use the cool new features I was a little disappointed. It was not as cool as I had expected. But I think if I had not known about the new features of the game it would have been a much better experience. In that video you can see a scarab. Since I had watched the video several times, when I got up to that part of the level and something big was coming in the distance, I knew it was a scarab. Killing a scarab in the game is still really fun, but I think it would have been a better experience if it took me by surprise.
So after Halo 3 I learnt to stay away from gameplay spoilers. GOW2, Mirrors Edge, Far Cry 2. I don't really know much about these games at all. So when I come to play then I won't be disappointed by them at all.
I'm playing GTA 4 right now. I stayed away from all information. I saw no trailers, read no reviews, and kept out of the GTA 4 threads in the forums. So now when I'm playing it I don't know anything about it. All I expect from it is to be like GTA 3 with better graphics. The neat little additions such as drunk driving, and surfing the internet are new to me and are a nice surprise. Even my girlfriend Misa is into GTA 4.

You're holding it upside down ya know.
So my advice for you gamers out there, is to ease up on the fact finding and don't jump on the hype train. Maybe read one or two reviews just to see if it's worth it. You will have a much better gaming experience, instead of falling on your face with disappointment.
Aiiiight laters.
