Hello again. Last weeks blog was about chocolate. This week I'll be talking about the gaming platforms I have owned through the years.
I have been playing Video Games for quite a while now. Since last century in fact. The very first console I owned was the Sega Megadrive. I got this back in 1991 with a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog. I had played the mastersystem and a super Nintendo consoles before at friends houses so gaming was not new to me, but the second stage stage took me several months to get past. Those stupid robot caterpillars always caught me up. One of my favourite Sega games was Cool Spot. This was really just a big advertisement for 7-Up but I like 7-Up so it's ok. I prefer it to Sprite. Most people do, like my girlfriend Misa.
Djkicks:
"Hey Misa, you like 7 Up more than Sprite aye?"
Misa:
"Actually no. I think Sprite is better"

You think you know someone, then you find out something as shocking as that. Damn.
Errr ok. So anyway, I have had my Sega for 17 years now. It's still fully working. The button on one of the controllers just needs to be pushed a little harder than it used to. Sometimes I have to "bowl" out the dust but it's all good.
After the games stopped being produced for Megadrive I got an old computer to play games on. This was around 1996. The computer did not have a mouse and ran on MS DOS. "C:/windows/programs/games/dukenukem/run.exe;" were the sort of codes I had to type to play the games. It had the original Duke Nukem games on it. Then one day I lost the bit of paper that had the codes on it, and I could not play anymore. Boo-urns!
Then in 1997 I got a computer with a mouse and Windows 95. It came with a game called Hover! I was amazed at the 3D graphics. This was a game where you had to capture 3 flags before that computer controlled hovercrafts did. The fist game I bought for the PC was Need for Speed II. It's such a cool game. I like entering the code that lets me drive as a truck, and I go round smashing the other cars. Sadly around 2000 my computer was no longer able to play the latest games. So I was stuck playing all my old games for a couple years.

Then in 2002 I wanted a new games console. All my friends had a Playstaion 2. Not only could it play games, ZOMG it had a built in DVD player! I though it was pretty cool. But then I heard about this thing called a Gamecube. I though, yeah I'm going to get a Gamecube just because everyone else has a PS2. Then one day, I was at Dick Smith. They were showing off some new games console called Xbox. I did not know anything about it, apart from it being the competition for the PS2. So I though yeah this is even better than a PS2, I'm going to get this. So I got an Xbox with out know anything about it or even what games it had. I'm really glad I did or else I would have not gotten to play awesome games like Halo, or Riddick.
Around 2004 my PC had died and it was time to get a new one. It came with free games splinter cell and Mafia. I'm yet to play a game with a better story than Mafia. If you know of one, please let me know.
At this time I thought about going back to being a PC gamer. But my Xbox had shown me that consoles are better. I did not want to go back to the installing, making sure there is enough disc space, patching, and finding out I can't even play the games I want a few months later. So I have never bough any games for my PC. The only other game I got for my PC was a game I won from NZGamer because they are awesome! So I kept on with my Xbox gaming.
Then when the 360 was released I was a little sad because I knew it was down hill for the Xbox from here. I wanted to play Halo 3 so I knew I'd need to buy a 360. Lucky for me I got one for my birthday a year after the 360's release. It came with Gears of War, PGR3, and DOA4.
So Now I'm happy with my 360.
I wonder what awaits me in the future. Will I buy a Wii or PS3? Or will my 4 year old PC suddenly explode, and the new PC will get me back into PC gaming? If you know the answers please post below.
Aiiight Laters.
