Ok so here are my top 5 first person shooter videogames.
5 - Doom II: Hell on Earth
This was the first FPS I had ever played. All my friends had this on their computer, so we would always play this game. We would take turns doing a level each. I did not actually play the game without the cheats until I was much older. But it was still so much fun blasting monsters. But I was never able to clock the game because I'd get stuck playing the Icon of Sin level. I had to use "IDCLIP" and go inside the head and shoot "Michael Jackson". Well that's what we called it anyway; I think it's some guy who worked for id.

4 - Call Of Duty 4
One thing most FPS's lack is just all out crazy chaos. I have played many war games before, but I was always disappointed when it was not as epic as the war movies. I had been waiting for something that was realistic, intense, cinematic and gave me a feeling that I was really in a war. COD4 gave me what I wanted, the action never stopped. When ever things got a little quite something big was always about to go down. From the helicopter you were in getting shot down, to nuclear missiles launching. The mulitiplayer is great too. It has the best lobby set up and match making system I have seen in a game. The campaign does get a little boring on the third play through though.
3 - Duke Nukem 3D
"Hmm, don't have time to play with myself." The coolest thing about this game was it had an Adult Mode! Heh, I was too young to be playing this game, but most of the sexual references went over my head anyway, so it's all good. My friend had this game on his PC. So when ever I was at his house I'd jump on the computer and play it. There were some really creative levels and aliens. My favourite weapon was the shrink ray. I liked to squish the aliens. I remember when I first played it I was amazed that I could actually jump and duck. There was even a jetpack!
2 - The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
I had seen this game sitting on the shelf many times and would look at the cover thinking it is probably crap. I never had any intention of buying it. The box art is a bad drawing of Vin Diesel and its all blue, not very appealing. I had never seen any of the movies either. Then I got it for Christmas one day. I though it was going to be one of those games I'd sell after I had a go. Ha, oh I was so wrong. This game is fantastic. It's got a great combination of stealth, fighting, and shooting. It's so much fun. I never get tired of punching people in the face. The melee combat system is the best I have seen in any FPS. My favourite bits are getting into the armoured guard robot and tearing up the place, and finding a guard uniform in a locker, wearing it allowed me to walk around and talk to the guards. That was pretty fun. The only negative thing I can say about it is it's not 360 compatible. I bet this is just an excuse to make me buy the Assault on Dark Athena remake.

1 - Halo: Combat Evolved
I got this with my Xbox about a year or so after the Xbox's release. I had no idea what it was about, and when I looked at the pictures on the back of the box, I though it was a real time strategy game. Before I played Halo most of the games were 2d, and the closest thing to a cinematic was a still picture with some words scrolling across the bottom. Halo blew me away with how real it was. There was proper voice acting! Real music! Actual 3D levels! A story! This is why it's my number one. It was just like a movie. The gameplay was very impressive. For sure, I had shot aliens before, but there were so many ways to do it, I could even play co-op. The ability to get in and out of vehicles when ever I wanted and picking up the alien weapons was sooo cool. Everything about Halo was awesome. But it's not perfect, the backtracking and the boring corridors are the only things I don't like about it but I can forgive Bungie for this. The positives definitely out weigh the negatives.

So there you go. Halo: Combat Evolved is my favourite FPS. But all the games on my list are really fun, they all deserve a 9/10 rating.
Now I know some people will be asking where is Bioshock? Goldeneye? Far Cry? etc? Well I have not played those games sadly, but I hope to one day. Oh btw, Halo is not my favourite game ever, just my favourite FPS. My top ten are really in no specific order, I could have easily put Halo 3 at number 2 and Duke 3D at 8 or what ever. It's just how I happened to list them. I tried not to put more than one game from the same series, but Doom 2 and 3 are quite different games, and Halo 3 definitely needs to be in every FPS list.
