Metal Gear Solid Coming to the 360?

Are Konami looking to take one of their largest franchises multi-platform? Well, while we can’t say for sure, all signs currently point to ‘yes’. Kotaku recently reported on the latest developments in series of, until now, unsubstantiated rumours that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be going to the 360.

This latest bout of discussion on the possibility of a MGS4 port was sparked by Yoshitaka Arai of Konami being quoted in an interview with Japanese investor bulletin Morningstar with the following:

” The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version (of MGS4) is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.”

I don’t think this news should come as a great shock to anyone, with the rising cost of “next-gen” development, quite a few third party developers are going multi-platform or settling for timed exclusivity (Like Bioshock, for example). It will be interesting to see how this plays out, with Kojima having been quoted as saying that it wouldn’t be technically possible to port the game over because it was designed from the ground up on the PS3’s architecture.

So what does this mean? Well, nothing yet, due to the nature of the industry and rumours like this springing up from incorrect translations or misquotes. Just don’t be too surprised if Old Snake winds up playing out his last mission on the 360 sometime in the future.

The disc count would be interesting, considering Kojima complained about the storage capacity of the Blu-rays.

Also, what would 360 users control their MK II / III's with?!

It's not gonna happen. Since Konami don't own the the game (they only distribute it) they can't do anything without Kojima Productions giving the go ahead. An since Hideo Kojima owns the company i doubt it'll be happening. He doesn't want it on there. He's not a money grabbing whore like the rest of the industry.

It's already been debunked. Kotaku are sensationalising this.

"This article Kotaku is sourcing is about multiplatform strategy in general, and the article is written as an editorial, not as a news piece. They're simply quoting various producers from different third party publishers from previous interviews to cite their positions on multiplatform strategy."

Be great if there were some truth to this, but there's not.

I think the developers deserve a little more credit than that...It's a great game.

If Konami/Kojima Pro end up doing a Subsistence type of re-release, i could see a 360 version likely happening.

I agree. the game is phenomenal and anyone who doesn't give it credit for what it's achieved is a blind Narcissus who shouldn't be playing Video Games. I mean if i had a 360 i'd love for MGS4 to come onboard. But the shoe is on the other foot.

sounds like a good idea but it probably won't happen, and even if it did it would be quite a while away. just like twin snakes it would have to be mostly remade because of the fact that it was designed for the PS3

i have both systems because of MGS4. I can say that the game is deserveing of respect. but hey why not bring it to the 360 if they are talking about it then this game is thought highly of by many gamers

It might come with a limited edition remote that only has the fast forward button and another one for subtitles to translate the nonsensical plot.

Regardless, this game should come on the 360, considering the Metal Gear series started on a Microsoft platform.

If this did come, I'd want to play it, but I'm the type that would have to finish 2 and 3 before I could move onto this, and man, both those games bored me like crazy.

lol if anything is "teh funniez!11" its the irony showen. A few months ago, MGS4 was just a interactive movie, and then all of a suden a rumor hits the news and its the second comming of christ.
