Items Removed From Fable II Collectors Edition

Not all is well in the world of Albion. Following yesterday’s news about the online co-op comes a blog post from developer Lionhead Studios about cuts to the collectors edition

The following was posted on the blog in regards to the loss of content; ” We are happy to announce the Fable II game is in manufacturing and confirmed for Oct-21 in North America and Asia, Oct-24 for Europe.

However, due to supply chain issues**, we are revising the Fable II Limited Collector’s Edition and the estimated retail price will be reduced from $79.99 to $69.99* USD in North America or as applicable in your market.
*These are estimated retail prices; actual retail prices may vary worldwide. ** we are gutted

The premium box, five printed fate cards, and Hobbe figure will not be available as part of the Limited Collector’s Edition. We apologize for any inconvenience. “

The new version of the collectors edition is now going from around NZD$89 – 99 depending on where you look and will contain the following.

• Fable II game disc
• Bonus DVD with new ‘Making-of’ Feature
• Bonus in-game content (requires Xbox LIVE®)
o ‘The Hall of the Dead’ Dungeon
o ‘The Wreckager’ Legendary Cutlass Weapon
o Spartan armor and energy sword

Hopefully this is the last of the bad news and / or setbacks for the guys at Lionhead. Stay tuned to NZGamer.com and we’ll keep you up to date with Fable II news and coverage.

How does this news affect you? I’m personally not really one for collectors editions but I know a lot of people are, does the lack of content discourage you from going after the CE? Or does the price drop make up for it?

Let us know your thoughts!

Personally, the CE for most games are crap anyways. Game, plus some screenshots bound together and called a 'Making of' booklet, and some crappy little figurine youll look at once and discard.

I cant remember one CE that was worth the extra money.

That pretty much sums up why I don't buy them, the extra content just doesn't interest me.

the Fallout 3 CE looks rad. The lunchbox and bobblehead are both pretty cool looking. Bobblehead will look nice on my desk. Making of and Artbook could be solid as well. And it's only an extra 20.

But yeah CE's don't appeal for the most part. Sucks for the people who wanted some of that stuff though.

I didn't really want the Hobbe figurine or Fate cards. So I was happy about this release because I could get the limited edition in-game content for cheaper.

BunnnyReplyPosted by Bunnny on 3 October 2008, 03:20PM
oh noes, its shit now, i don't want to buy the stupid game anymore /rant

no really wtf? CE? Well I guess it's a shame for those that want it, but most of the time it's over-priced anyway, and most people just want the game... game CE are average... Unless it's like Morrowind, which has stuff in the game, not extra merc

Well I guess now it costs the same as the normal edition so that means I might actually get it.

Yeah does look pretty cool. Another one that caught my eye was the Saints Row CE, very unusual.

NOOO! NOT THE BOX! IT'S WHAT MAKES COLLECTERS EDITIONS COLLECTIBLE!

Grunt of GodReplyPosted by Grunt of God on 4 October 2008, 08:28AM
I just reliesed, their slowly taking everything away from Fable 2, just so we don't notice when the whole things gone!

Flea17ReplyPosted by Flea17 on 4 October 2008, 06:59PM
Damn, I didn't really care about the other stuff but I'm a sucker for shiny metal boxes. I really wanted that box...

HyjinksReplyPosted by Hyjinks on 4 October 2008, 11:43PM
Peter Molyneux wants you to judge him on the game not on the content of the collectors edition hahaha.

Isn't that cheaper than the standerd edition? 0.o

RokReplyPosted by Rok on 5 October 2008, 12:58PM
That's an very good point! It looks like Gamesman is selling the collectors edition cheaper than most places will sell the regular one.

gamemastercraigReplyPosted by gamemastercraig on 7 October 2008, 03:39PM
This kinda affects me because I was interested in getting the collectors edition because it is such a great game. But I'm not really bothered by the loss of cards, but the figurines would have been cool. Anyways, the bonus stuff that is still included in the package are good. Not sure if I will spend the extra money though...
