SingStar To Team With Disney

I've gone off SingStar, to be honest. It's been five years since the original came out, and in the glut of sequels that have appeared since, I have frequently found myself being subjected to U2 and David Bowie songs that I have never heard before in my life and being thrust into making a complete ass of myself.

However, I've been saying for a while now that only two things would get me back to caring about SingStar: SingStar Queen and SingStar Disney. Well it seems someone at Sony is listening, because the latter has come true!

Step into a world of music, magic and family fun with SingStar Singalong With Disney on PlayStation 2.

Make it a fairytale Holiday sing along with Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella and other Disney animated movies this Autumn

Leipzig Games Convention, 20th August 2008: The music of Disney classic animated movies is about to be brought to life on PlayStation 2 when Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) releases SingStar Singalong With Disney exclusively for PAL territories this Autumn.

The wonderful magic of Disney comes from its timeless music as much as its spellbinding animation, from The Little Mermaid to Peter Pan, to Aladdin and Toy Story. With Disney fans of all ages in mind, SingStar Singalong With Disney proves that no one is ever too old for fairytales, and mum will be keen to join in with the kids to show off her singing skills. Tracks from Disney classics old and new ensure that every member of the family will find a favourite on the track list. The game features classic SingStar options allowing players to sing in solo, duet, or battle.

Each track is accompanied by clips from the original Disney movies, which means that your favourite characters appear on screen as you sing along. There is no longer any need to wait; every Disney fan’s dream comes true in Autumn 2008 when SingStar Singalong With Disney is released on PlayStation 2.

SingStar Singalong With Disney will include the following tracks, with more to be confirmed very soon.

Aladdin A Whole New World

The Jungle Book The Bare Necessities

Toy Story You Got A Friend In Me

The Little Mermaid Under The Sea

Pinocchio When You Wish Upon A Star

Songs will be made available in local languages across PAL territories.

Kick. Ass. I'm totally going to rock out to Under The Sea. It's exclusive for the PS2, but PS3 owners shouldn't fret; Sony have also announced that a recent SingStar firmware update will allow owners of the PS3 version to rip PS2 songs to the game.

How and when we do not know, but we can only assume it's because Sony want to hold a golden carrot in front of the masses who have yet to jump into the PS3 version of SingStar. Be sure to check out the comments section below to see what editor Tristan has to say about this, since he's spent a small fortune on purchasing SingStar songs from the SingStore.

Keep it locked to NZGamer for more news from Leipzig as we get it.

Is the ripping songs feature confirmed??? Oh my god that would be great! Bwahahaha.

I hope they load up more Aladdin in there, maybe some Lion King and Beauty and the Beast too. And no, I'm not handing in my man card.

Ooo... Lion King would kick arse. Hakunamatata, I just can't wait to be king...

That would rock.

I'm glad to see some toy story in there too. I love that song.

Update on the song ripping: it's bollocks, unfortunately. The update will just let you swap in PS2 SingStar discs and play those songs from within the PS3 game interface. Much better than nothing, but a far cry from getting your songs onto the HDD. Ah well.

Only all the Aladdin songs would get me to play this one (and some Lion King). I have a deep hate for most of the Pixar songs,so it might not be working playing.

The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?

Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea

Down here all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain't happy
They sad 'cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who's gon' be on the plate

Under the sea
Under the sea
Nobody beat us
Fry us and eat us
In fricassee
We what the land folks loves to cook
Under the sea we off the hook
We got no troubles
Life is the bubbles
Under the sea
Under the sea
Since life is sweet here
We got the beat here
Naturally
Even the sturgeon an' the ray
They get the urge 'n' start to play
We got the spirit
You got to hear it
Under the sea

The newt play the flute
The carp play the harp
The plaice play the bass
And they soundin' sharp
The bass play the brass
The chub play the tub
The fluke is the duke of soul
(Yeah)
The ray he can play
The lings on the strings
The trout rockin' out
The blackfish she sings
The smelt and the sprat
They know where it's at
An' oh that blowfish blow

Under the sea
Under the sea
When the sardine
Begin the beguine
It's music to me
What do they got? A lot of sand
We got a hot crustacean band
Each little clam here
know how to jam here
Under the sea
Each little slug here
Cuttin' a rug here
Under the sea
Each little snail here
Know how to wail here
That's why it's hotter
Under the water
Ya we in luck here
Down in the muck here
Under the sea
