Dead Space Trailer Banned In The USA

The Dead Space trailer that you can find below wasn't technically "banned" in the States. First Amendment and all that, natch. It just wasn't approved by the ESRB to be shown -- and given the amount of political heat surrounding video game ratings in the USA, it seems like the decision will be followed by EA.

Incidentally, however, it was approved for Europe, and given that the Internet has made the world global, Gametrailers has put it up for everyone to see. Personally, I don't see what's so bad about the trailer. Sure, there are allusions of gore, but it's so fleeting (and likely to inspire epilepsy) that it seems a bit asinine to disapprove of it.

In fact, the trailer is so well done and so damn creepy that it suddenly made Dead Space jump onto my wishlist. You can check out our preview of Dead Space here, and you can watch the full trailer below.

Keep it locked to NZGamer for more updates on Dead Space, and be sure to let us know what you think of the trailer. Was it too much for you, or does it surprise you that the Americans couldn't handle it?

It does have quite a few graphic scenes in the trailer. Not ban-worthy though.

But holy-shit, game looks pretty badass. I'm a sucker for horror so am eagerly anticipating this. *Adds to wishlist*

Ooooooo.... That was creepy. Definitely looks like one of the better games to come out of this year... Don't hold me to that however.

Now, about the trailer... I dunno, maybe I'm just desensitised to violence, but that was pretty average as far as gore goes. Sure, I wouldn't show it to anyone under, say, 10, but I definitely wouldn't call it ban-worthy.

This 'ban' is the best thing to happen to this game.

I like the juxtaposition of a child's song with extreme violence.
And no, I'm not surprised at all the Yanks can't handle that.

Not at all surprised it got banned. Unlike all you, well, boys, I'm not so good at the horror thing. Violence, yeah, whatevs. But horror? Nah ah. So I can see why it got banned. Well, sort of banned.
And, as has been noted, being banned is probably the best thing to happen to it. Now everyone is going to scramble to at least watch the trailer. And then add it to various wish lists.
