Wii Fit Concerns Health Experts

Although this news is hardly breaking -- some of you might even call it "OLD!" -- but it's certainly interesting as it's still gaining traction as Wii Fit carves up sales charts overseas. Health experts in the UK are rather concerned at the way Wii Fit has been calling regular, healthy children overweight or obese.

BMI is hardly the best way to measure a person's weight, it's even more inaccurate when used on children due to various degrees of growth. The "meanness" of Wii Fit has recently had a few high-profile cases in the UK, including being featured on the BBC after a 10-year-old girl told her mother she wanted to go on a diet after Wii Fit called her fat.

However, Nintendo still claim that Wii Fit is perfectly able to measure the BMI of people aged between 2 and 20. Of course, Lord knows why you'd want to measure the BMI of a 2-year-old. Surely you wouldn't want a toddler to start getting a complex about their weight. Mind you, I would say that because Wii Fit called me obese.

So, how about you? Do you have Wii Fit? Has it called you tubby? And has it inspired you to spend an extra hour with the game, or has it inspired you to head straight to that tin of pringles? Let us know below!

I dont have a Wii Fit but I hope they've changed the definitions of "obese" from asian standards to suit other countries. Being of asian descent, I know that over there, weighing 50 grams is considered grossly overweight which isn't quite normal everywhere else in the world.
