Sonic Ready to Get His Sword On

We've all wanted another truly epic Sonic game ever since we clocked Sonic & Knuckles but all we've ended up getting is disappointment after disappointment (Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance aside).

BioWare's Sonic Chronicles is shaping up nicely as is Sonic Unleashed so why then must Sega scare us just when we're beginning to believe that good Sonic games could be on their way?

Enough rambling. The latest issue of Nintendo Power has announcement information about the next Wii-exclusive Sonic game... Sonic & The Black Knight. If you head over to the NeoGaf forums you can see a scan of the cover.

Aside from knowing that Sonic will wield a sword and wear a gauntlet nothing else is known about Sonic & The Black Knight. Right now, I'm not so sure I want to know more.

Black Knight = Shadow? Shadow = Gun? Sonic = Sword? Sword + Gun = Awesome? So many questions. Damn I need some sleep.

Sonic with a sword? Perfect! He can run past tons of enemies cutting them down before they can evade. Awesome idea, Sonic Team.
