Hmmm never played a Final Fantasy game before. Might be able to now. Do I have to play all the others to understand the story? lol

No. No you don't. Every main Final Fantasy is it's own story completely separate from all the others and in a different world.

This doesn't include spin-offs or sequels which obviously are set in the world in which they are set in. Duh

Final Fantasy games are the some of the greatest games ever. They were one of the main reasons I originally bought a Playstation (1 and 2). I have all the other FF's except XI (which is on the X360) because you have to pay an additional fee on top of XBL. Hope its offline, or online with free online play.

Hmmph...I have mixed feelings about this. One one hand, it really shouldnt impact on PS3 owners as they can still play the game. On the other hand, I have a feeling that Square Enix in their infinite greed will try to release various upgrades in the Xbox version in an attempt to boost sales in both consoles. I wouldn't put it past them. If they do attempt to do something like that, it will be my last Final Fantasy game ever...
