GTA IV Smashes Guiness World Record

Guinness World Records has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV has become the highest ever entertainment earner within the first 24 hours after release, selling 3.6 million units and generating USD 310 million in revenue.

That compares to the previous fastest-selling videogame - last year's Halo 3 - which generated USD 170 million, the fastest-selling box office release, which was Spiderman 3 at USD 60 million, and the fastest-selling book - Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows at USD 220 million.

The news will come as yet another plaudit for Rockstar, with the game reaching the USD 500 million mark in the first week, and topping charts around the world since the April 29 release.
