Gears of War Out Tomorrow


It's been hailed as the most-anticipated video game launch of 2006, and the wait is almost over for Kiwi gamers - Gears Of War http://www.xbox.com/en-NZ/games/g/gearsofwar/ will storm New Zealand stores on Thursday.

Exclusive to Xbox 360, Gears Of War from Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios is a thrilling third-person tactical action/horror game where humankind faces a harrowing battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that emerge from the bowels of the planet.

Gamers can also take the season's hottest action title online via Xbox Live, the world's largest online gaming and entertainment network, which boasts four million members.

To celebrate the launch of Gears Of War, Microsoft is shouting a complimentary weekend of Xbox Live Gold access. From 5pm NZST Friday 24 November until 12am Monday 27 November (i.e. Sunday/Monday midnight), every New Zealand Xbox 360 owner with a broadband connection will be able to experience the intense multiplayer action that is Gears Of War online.

David McLean, Regional Director Xbox Australia and New Zealand, says, "Gears Of War is a phenomenal title that truly demonstrates the next generation power of Xbox 360. The buzz around this game is sky high and we expect Gears Of War to reach one million sales worldwide faster than any previous original Xbox game."

Cliff Bleszinski, lead designer for Gears Of War at Epic Games, adds, "The reception that Gears Of War has received has been tremendous. Designing Gears Of War has been a labour of love, and we've poured everything we have into the title. We expect this game to be huge, and it's exhilarating to see that people are as excited about Gears Of War
as we are."


Gears Of War is available in New Zealand from 23 November for RRP $99.95, or RRP $109.95 for a special Limited Collector's Edition, which will include a collectable embossed metal box, the Destroyed Beauty hardbound art book, and a bonus DVD that features the making of Gears Of War, the Art Of Gears Of War trailer, and the MTV programme Gears Of War: The Race to E3.
