Ubisoft today confirmed development of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2, the sequel to the best-selling modern military shooter for both PC and console. With this title and two other key announcements to come in the next few days, Ubisoft is expanding its lineup of war games to every segment of the military category, from historical to near future.
So far, the Ghost Recon franchise contributed greatly to the strength of this segment with more than 5 million copies sold worldwide. Ghost Recon 2 is looking at a Christmas 2004 release on the PC and console. The game will be set in the future, which should give some people an inside to what war could be fought like in the near future. You will thrust into a East Asia in control of a squad of special forces.
"Ghost Recon is now recognized as a top-selling franchise, and we've kept the values that made the first opus such a success," said Alain Corre, Ubisoft's Managing Director for Europe, Asia Pacific and South America "Now with Ghost Recon 2, we have brought up the intensity and adrenaline in order to throw the player right into the middle of modern war-chaos. Our teams have been working on bringing immersion to the next level - and the result is simply amazing. You will really feel like you are at the center of a true war machine when playing this game."
