Tales of Eternia

Published: Fri 2 Mar, 2007 | On:

I loved this game.. The graphics are cute, the story is fascinating, and the system of play is easy to get used to.

You can easily change which is the 'main' character in combat - so you can take turns fighting as your teammates - a useful thing considering by levelling up different abilities each character can then learn new moves.

There's heaps of minigames hidden throughout - for example theres a cooking contest!

The only issues I had with the game myself are some periods of time where you're really unsure of where you should be going, and you end up just running around all over the place trying to keep the story going. However, the one good thing about that, is you can discover new places and minigames - even some secret spots if you're lucky.

I think they made an error though while making this game. Later on in the game there are a couple of scenes where the voices and sound effects are completely wrong. They've got the voices from the very first scene of the game coming up and playing over a later scene instead of the appropriate voices, thankfully theres subtitles on the screen all the time that you can read. They also have an ocassion where a characters name hasn't been changed from Japanese writing into English - where every other time that character speaks his name comes up correctly in English.

Aside from these flaws, I do still love the game. And I recommend it to anyone who loves the old style RPGs
