Need for Speed Carbon

Published: Sun 18 Mar, 2007 | On:

I picked this up yesterday after deciding that I'd cancel my SSX pre-order at EB due to two things, 1. I hate waiting when a game is already out 2. I keep hearing people say it sucked. I'd been thinking about getting it for a while and now I wish I'd got it sooner - it's great!

Steering with the Wii controller is awful, fortunately there is an option to use the nunchuk analog stick, this along defines the difference between this game being awful and being awesome. After spending some time with it I'm convinced that this control scheme (number 4 in the options) is the best control scheme for a racing game ever, it just feels so smooth. You hold the Wii-mote at a 45o angle for the car to be idle, pull it towards yourself to brake, and lean it forward to accelerate, it's absolutely wonderful.

One of the greatest aspects of Carbon is the one present in all it's platform iterations - the muscle cars. They're hot. I mean, real hot.

If you've got a Wii and enjoy the NFS series you should really pick this up, it's a keeper!
