If you've followed my review pattern, you may have noticed that I'm a bit of a SingStar whore. My reviews tend to go like this:
SingStar review
Some other game review
SingStar review
Some other game review
SingStar review
SingStar review
I have a problem, I know. At home, we even play the damn thing sober. What's with that? Those who listen to our podcast know the height of my problem - we have an Argentine friend, and for her birthday my flatmate and I ordered in SingStar Latino and proceeded to learn one of its songs off by heart. Then we sang it to her in front of about 60-odd Latin Americans.
So yes, I'm a troubled young man in the grips of an obsession, and have no intention of getting out of it just yet. So when Microsoft (finally?) announced Lips, I paid more attention than most people probably would.
From what I've seen, I'm cautiously optimistic about it. Wireless mics = good. Motion-sensitive mics = ??. And loading your own songs onto the program = time for Bohemian Rhapsody. Although I'm skeptical about how accurate/good that last feature will be - will we get to map out the vocal patterns ourselves? Or will it automatically do it, and inevitably produce something that's more generic and less tailored than the SingStar songs? Although having said that, some SingStar songs are atrociously done.
So is this another drug to keep me occupied after I tire of SingStar vol.235? God I hope so. Anyone else out there with a similar problem? Come out of the closet! I know I'm not alone...
