So I'm sitting at my fiancees flat, she's gone to work and I have to fart around til night, so, before I go on my DotA spree, I've decided to write something for y'all to read :)
I've been playing dota for countless years, as such, I've inevitably become a kind of dota encyclopedia for skills, effects, heroes, builds, combos, counters, etc. DotA conversations between me and a few of my mates who play sometimes end in bottle fights, as to who'd beat who 1x1 :P
With so many heroes to chose from, so many items to buy/make/combine, so many builds to try, so many team combos to try, I could write for eons!
DotA is pretty much what's keeping WC3X alive! About 2/3 of the custom games hosted on battle.net are for dota; with the eBlacks recently making it on the dota championships, it goes to show the level of skill NZ posesses on a world level! (mad props to the eBlacks!)
DotA is addictive to the point where, I'd buy a new game, play it for a couple of hours... then go back to dota :$
I would like to (again!!!) invite all NZgamers to a game of dota, particularly Aucklanders - we end up at MCC (midcity, in town) once/twice a week, if anyone would like to join, please, just make yourself known!
The worldwide community for dota is huge, based out of www.dota-allstars.com - and the website to download the game is www.getdota.com . Alls you need is Warcraft 3 and the expansion, The Frozen Throne. From the dl website you can also download AI maps, to play solo and practise.
To conclude, I'm torn between both sides of the fence on Starcraft 2 taking DotA: New game, new engine, new system, good. However, why change something that works so freakin well?
(This is my first blog entry, so please lube all criticism with a constructive coat of vaseline :) )
