First, i'll start with a review of the single player: it is fairly obvious even from the first few hours of play that this is just to give the game some appeal to those who aren't into the multiplayer online matches. That said, i liked it more than the single player on MoH: Airborne.
The storyline itself follows a squad of American soldiers (you play Preston Marlow) through some unknown and completely hypothetical conflict in some unknown European country. The storyline basically follows the soldiers through the conflict as they try to hunt down gold being hoarded by your enemy, an army of mercenaries. There's a bit more to it, but i don't want to spoil the whole thing :-P The storyline isn't long (about 10-12 hours gameplay for the average player) but keeps you entertained with it's quirky characters and unique gameplay.
The friendly AI was ok, if a little simple; at least your own guys don't run in front of you too much, and at the same time are smart enough to take cover near you when they're under fire. The enemy AI was done to about the same standard as most games; enemies will take cover, yell out when they get hurt, etc. etc. The characters are all voiced and acted extremely well, with alot of slapstick but completely funny humour thrown in.
The multiplayer is where this game (like all battlefield games) really shines. This is like playing battlefield 2 but with better graphics and physics. The destructible environments and unique gameplay mode (gold rush; one side attacks, the other defends) all mean that the game definitely separates itself from it's predecessors. Definitely a must-have for any battlefield fan, and any fan of the genre in general.
