When I first moved in with my fiancée, all she could cook was two-minute noodles. Now, she's an excellent cook that serves me delicious meals every night. What do I have to thank for this wonderful turn of events? Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What To Eat Tonight?

Cooking Guide is essentially a virtual cook book. It contains a variety of recipes for international cuisine, from the Japanese katsudon to a good old-fashioned meal of fish and chips. It gives a range of options for selecting what meals to prepare. Criteria can range from country, time to prepare, or even the amount of calories the meal contains. It makes deciding what to eat painless and easy.

Cooking Guide will guide you step by step through the process of preparing your chosen meal. A virtual chef will give you verbal advice the whole way, continuing when vocally prompted by the player. Steps cover everything, meaning that it will even tell you exactly when you need to start preheating the oven. As long as you can follow instructions and you can hold a knife, you really can’t fail.

Another neat feature is that Cooking Guide offers a shopping list feature, so you can take your DS with you and tick off the ingredients as needed. While the easily embarrassed might worry about looking like a bit of an idiot, it really does prove its worth. For example, while getting the ingredients for chicken tikka masala, we decided we would also like some lassies to go with them. On the spot we were able to look up exactly what we would need and include them in our purchases.

Cooking Guide also makes things easy with its friendly and inviting presentation. You can get the Chef to speak at a speed you are comfortable with, and you can always go back a step if needed. There are visual cues the entire way through, making sure that you are using the correct utensils for the job at hand. Additionally, everything is soaked in that colourful and loveable charm you have come to expect from Nintendo.

Cooking Guide really will make you a great cook in no time. It’s taken only a week for my fiancée to prepare me dishes that make my mouth water. If you/your partner can’t cook and wish you/they could, I recommend that you pick up a copy of Cooking Guide. You won’t regret it, I promise.
