Look who's back! But not with the arrogance that I had been guilty of before. No, I come to you with my tail between my legs and an apology. While my past blog entry was misunderstood -- I was trying to highlight the needless hatred for casual gaming -- my own mother read it and told me that I was a prick. If that doesn't open your eyes, nothing will. So, to all those I offended, I am truly sorry.
Also, while many of you were correct in assuming that I was burnt out and jaded with the gaming industry, one game has restored my faith in gaming: Rock Band. You see, I took a trip to Queensgate with the missus and I noticed that Rock Band was out. I also noticed that The Warehouse were doing it for $269 including the game. You just can't beat that kind of value. I've been playing it with my fellow flatmates and you just can't beat the social experience. I know a lot of you are looking forward to Guitar Hero: World Tour, but I'm definitely in the Rock Band camp now. (I've also come to realise just how forgiving Neversoft have made the Guitar Hero franchise.)
It's also made me realise that being a gamer is part of who I am, and I can't change that. You see, I was perhaps a little bitter with gaming/gamers because I've had serious problems in my life -- mostly stemming from alcohol abuse. I have tried to straighten my life out, and I thought the best way to do that was purging by fire. That is burn everything to the ground and start again. However, I realise now that's not really a good idea. In fact, doing so really makes you a bit of a prick, so again, I'm truly sorry.
I wouldn't say that I have my life sorted yet -- there is a long way to go and a lot of obstacles to overcome before I can finally say that everything is better -- but I am at least on the way to fixing everything. Who knows, in a few more months I might even be in the right frame of mind to look at returning to working in the gaming industry.
So, yeah, again, sorry. When someone who has to love you tells you that you've been an ass, you kind of realise that you are. I hope you can all forgive me and realise the reasons behind my actions. In fact, if you can all forgive me, support would be great as I try and straighten my life out.
Until next time...
