When thinking of concepts behind videogames, various characters do pop in to the mind that would make you say “wow that would make for an awesome videogame,” and ninja’s are one of those.
Tenchu Z has taken this idea and tried to get by without seemingly putting any direct thought into how the game would be as an experience as the game has many flaws which include a disjointed story, repetitive missions, and terrible enemy artificial intelligence.
The game starts with you picking your character's sex and then customising his/her outfit. Then you'll find yourself in your own village, where you can buy and equip new items, weapons, and clothes. You can also purchase new skills and shift your attributes to suit the upcoming level, not that you’ll need it due to most missions being similar in nature.
When it comes to gameplay, users will get the most enjoyment out of immersing themselves as a ninja, otherwise you’ll get so frustrated with the A.I, control system and camera angles that you’ll just run-and-gun most missions and end up totally loathing the game.
From top to bottom, Tenchu Z is a disappointment. There are 50 missions, but most of them are the same. You can sneak around, find creative ways to get to your objective, use a large number of interesting weapons, and kill bad guys with the press of a button, but you don't need to because you can simply run or somersault right past everyone.
