With the Square Enix logo on the cover of this Jrpg, you can be forgiven in thinking this game would have the same kind of sheen reserved for the Final Fantasy series, and although this game doesnt have that, it is a fun, albeit dirivative experience that will hold in JRPG fans but if you've never been a fan of the genre, nothing here will make you want to take another stab at the genre.
The story start with you, a flute weilder Capelle being rescued from a castle dungeon because you are mistaken for the hero of the land, Sigmund. from there it is pretty much a two plus two is four affair, with the occasional plus 3 chucked in there for when you think no curveball is coming. This means youll see most things coming before they hit any any attempted twist in the storyline would be seen from a mile away. Howver there are parts in the storyline that have wow momentsand parts that will legitamately make you laugh out loud, not quite OMG moments and that will damper the experince somewhat for anyone looking for a deep and heartfelt story.
The combat tries to be fufilling and groundbreaking but never gets there. you are in charge of your character, and your character only which leaves the AI incharge of you allies, which isnt a bad thing as most battles come down to bashing the two attack buttons. healing is easy as long as you have a healer or adequate items on you. Just pushing a button tells your allies to heal you, making healing a buttons push away and battles far too easy. Even boss battles. It tries to go s tep in the right direction with all menu usage in real time, but with so many other derivative gameplay elements put together, its not quite as difficult to use items as you would think as battles are so easy.
The graphics range from adequate to poor depending on where you are in the game. Some towns and cities look great with the art really shining through and helping the game look the part, then some places looking so bland they could be Sonics hub world on the 360 Sonic the Hedgehog game. The score in true Square Enix fashion is near perfect with the right moods and feeling being brought through at the right time. however with the rest of the game the game in mind nothin stands out or is of a noteworthy mention. The voice acting also ranges from adequate to poor, with some voice acting really shining though despite the poor synce with the mouths but some being so poor yud rather play the game muted.
Infinite Undiscover is the game that almost could. it reis but unfortunely doesnt shine through anywhere. leaving for a derivative, albeit competent experince.
